Friedrich Eggert

Friedrich Eggert has to his credit stage and costume designs for numerous drama, musical and opera productions. His recent projects have included sets for Il barbiere di Siviglia and Die Zauberflöte at the Theater St. Gallen, the world premiere of the “electro-opera” After Hours at the Berlin club Berghain, Mark-Anthony Turnage’s opera Greek, and the musical My Fair Lady at the Staatsoper Hannover, Rossini’s La Cenerentola at the Saarländisches Staatstheater, and the operettas Schwarzwaldmädel in Leipzig, and Orphée aux Enfers in Erfurt. As a lighting designer, he was involved in the productions of the opera double-bill of La Voix humaine and Bluebeard’s Castle, the operetta Die Czardas Prinzessin, and Monteverdi’s Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria staged by Bernd Mottl. Friedrich Eggert’s previous collaborations with the stage director Inge Levant included costume designs for her productions of Otello in Kiel, Donizetti’s Il diluvio universale at the St. Gallen Festival, and Boris Godunov at the National Theatre in Brno.

The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
