Elena Rossi

Soprano Elena Rossi comes from Reggio Emilia. Following her studies of singing at Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna, she performed on the scenes of some significant Italian and international theatres as well as at prestigious festivals where she rendered some major operatic roles. She studied the part of Anna in The Rake’s Progress by Igor Stravinsky at Teatro Verdi in Trieste in December 2004. Then, in 2005, Elena performed Thérèse in Les Mamelles de Tirésias by Francis Poulenc at the Festival in Macerata, under the baton of Guillaume Tourniaire and direction of Pier Luigi Pizzi. At Teatro Verdi in Pisa, she performed as Donna Anna in Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni and at Teatro Comunale in Modena she debuted as La Bella in the world premiere of the opera La Bella e la Bestia by Marco Tutino.

In 2006, she won major acclaim for her rendition of Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata at many Spanish scenes of renown, and took part in the summer season of the Sferisterio Opera festival at Macerata, where she played in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and in Verdi’s Aida. Currently, she performs at Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice in the opera La vedova scaltra by Wolf-Ferrari and in Thaïs by Massenet.

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
