Henrik Engelsviken

Henrik Engelsviken studied at The Norwegian Academy of Music and The Opera Academy in Oslo. He has extensive repertory as an opera and concert singer. He sang the part of Caramello in Eine Nacht in Venedig in Mörbich, Austria in 1998, he has also performed on Norwegian Television on several occasions. At the Norwegian National Opera he has performed as Rodrigo in Otello, Alfred in Die Fledermaus, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Alfredo in La traviata, Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos, Malcolm in Macbeth, Fenton in Falstaff and The Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto. This season he makes his debut as Rodolfo in La Bohéme, Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte and Kaunda in Circus Terra. This summer he will be singing The Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto with the China Philharmonic Orchestra in Beijing.

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
