Katharina Bader

Assistant choreographer

Katharina Bader was born in Stuttgart where she received her early dance training at the John-Cranko- Ballet School and at the Ballettfachschule Ronecker.

In 1984 she moves to France to pursue her contemporary dance training: First in Paris, then at the National Centre of Contemporary Dance in Angers (1986/88). In (1992/93) she obtains a scholarship from the French Ministry of Culture to study at the Merce Cunningham Studio and at the José Limon Foundation in New York. As a professional dancer she starts her career at the Théâtre Chorégraphique de Rennes / Gigi Caciuleanu, then dances with the Mark Morris Dance Group, first in Brussels at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, then in New York and abroad. Since 1992 up to present, she dances with the Compagnie Christine Bastin (Gueule de Loup, L’Eau Vive, Out of Brad) and since 1998 also with the Compagnie du Sillage / Jacques Fargearel (Entre Terre et Ciel, Assis au Bord du Monde, Kyrielle 321).

She has been the choreographic assistant to Daniela Kurz (Rossini in Wildbad, Aschenputtel –Aalto Ballett Theater) as well as to Christine Bastin (La Fugue – Festival d’Avignon, L’Entrouvert) and Angelin Preljocaj (Le Songe de Medée   Paris Opera Ballet).

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
