Marie Devellereau

Marie Devellereau, a 29 year old French soprano, is a graduate of the famous Juilliard School in New York; she finished her vocal studies in a programme for young artists in the Paris Opera. She is a laureate of several international vocal competitions (1st prize at the Viennese Belvedere Competition), in June 2001 she was awarded the prestigious French Critics Award. Her repertoire includes roles such as: Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Teresa (Les Mamelles de Tirésias), Cunegonde (Candide), Gemmy (Guillaume Tell), Lakmé and the Maid (La Clemenza di Tito), Lisa (La Sonnambula), First Niece (Peter Grimes), Eurydice (Orphée aux Enfers), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) and others. Marie Devellereau performed in many significant opera houses, for example in the San Francisco Opera, Opéra d’Avignon, Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, Opéra de Wallonie, Opéra National de Lyon, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Salle Gaveau, Concertgebouw, Louvre Auditorium and Opéra National de Paris. She cooperated with conductors: Seiji Ozawa, Christoph von Dohnanyi, James Conlon, Michel Plasson, Yves Abel, Marc Minkowski, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Frans Brüggen and Louis Langré. For EMI she recorded a CD with a collection of Poulenc’s songs, for Decca/London she recorded together with Renée Fleming and Thomas Hampson Massenet’s Thais.

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
