Nana Miriani was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she studied voice at the Music Academy. She pursued her studies at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena (1995–96), with the legendary tenor Carlo Bergonzi at the Accademia di Canto in Parma (1997), and with the celebrated soprano Renata Scotto at the Verdi Opera Studio (affiliate of the Fondazione Verdi Festival) of the Teatro Regio di Parma (2000 – 2001). Nana Miriani made her debut in 1998 at Busseto, as Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco. She has since then guest appeared at various Italian venues, as Giordano’s Fedora, Santuzza in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, Puccini’s Tosca, Amelia in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera (among other occasions, at the Teatro Regio di Parma in 2001, under the baton of Valery Gergiev), Verdi’s Lady Macbeth, Aida, and Leonora in Il trovatore, as well as in various other roles. Her accounts of Tosca have prominently included one at Milan’s La Scala, in a production directed by Luca Ronconi, with Lorin Maazel conducting. Apart from Italy, she has guest appeared in France, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In October 2008 she debuted in the Prague State Opera as Abigaille. Since April 2011 she has collaborated with the the National Theatre of Moravia-Silesia in Ostrava, where she has created the part of Abigaille, Fedora, Kostelnička in Janáček’s Jenůfa, and in 2012/2013 season she will appear as Wally and Ortrud in the houses’s new productions of Catalani’s La Wally and Wagner’s a Lohengrin.
