Sorina Munteanu

Romanian soprano Sorina Munteanu graduated from the Music School in Arad where she studied violin, piano and canto. She continued her studies at the Faculty of Arts at the West University of Temeshvar, she received Master Degree and Ph.D. at the Music Academy “Gh. Dima” in Cluj-Napoca. In 1995 she was offered the engagement of a soloist at the opera in Cluj, in 2002 in the National Opera in Temeshvar. One year later she became the first soloist of the National Opera in Bucharest, she regularly appears on stages of opera houses in Macedonia, Hungary and Slovakia. During her career she created a number of lead roles on these stages (Donna Anna, Rosina, Abigaille, Lady Mackbeth, Aida, Turandot, Tosca, Carmen, Cio-cio-san etc.). As she has a very broad lyric and vocal symphonic repertoire she performs not only operas but she also gives many concerts (Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert, Verdi, Enescu, Poulenc, Debussy, Dima, Bretan). She appeared on tours in many European countries (Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy) and in the USA.

The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates

The Prague State Opera in cooperation with the Slovart publishing house publishes a representative book tracking the history of this significant cultural institution since its opening in 1888 till the end of the 2002/2003 season. The publication called The Prague State Opera – Theatre History in Pictures and Dates is focusing solely on the opera featured at the scene, even though the theatre under various names also served to presentation of drama plays, operettas and ballet. The Prague State opera plans to publish the volumes concentrating on those genres in the next years.
